August 24-29, 2016 with Lucinda Green
Location: Southern Dharma Retreat Center (one hour N.W. of Asheville, N.C.)
All of the Buddha’s teachings point to liberation-to freedom from suffering, to the realization that all conditioned phenomena is subject to suffering and impermanence, and to the lived understanding that there is no solid separate self. Liberation means dwelling in the unconditioned while living fully and functioning effectively with love, wisdom, and compassion within the cyclical existence of samsara.
Our experience comes to us through our senses. In this retreat we will focus on exploring the six sense gates and five skandhas (aggregates) through specific meditations. The development and application of these topics will serve as launch pads for touching the unconditioned and experiencing liberation first-hand. The potential for transformation using these direct methods abounds.
This retreat is held in Noble Silence and includes instruction, sitting and walking meditation, Dharma talks, working meditation, and individual interviews with the teacher. A minimum of three years of consistent Buddhist meditation practice is recommended for this retreat.
